Check your Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express settings.
 
 
Below you'll find directions and screen captures for settings in Outlook and Outlook Express. Please check your settings and use this as a reference if you experience a problem. As always, you may call us with any questions at 252.355.3339.

Outlook Express

Open Outlook Express and select Tools
Then Accounts


Select the Mail tab at the top, it should be the second one.
Then select the account by double-clicking, it might say mail.geeksnet.com


Select the Servers tab, it should be the second tab
Now, make sure the following information matches your settings.


 
Make sure under the Server Information that the editable fields read:
POP3, mail.geeksnet.com, mail.geeksnet.com, respectively. Mail.geeksnet.com
should be in BOTH incoming and outgoing mail.
 
Incoming Mail Server should have your FULL email address for the account name, yourname@geeksnet.com.
 
Outgoing Mail Server has a check box that says, "My server requires authentication." Please make sure this box is checked.
 
Once you're done making changes, click the Apply button. Then you click the "ok" button and then the "close" button. Now, try sending an email.
 
 

Outlook

Select “Tools”
Then “Email Accounts”



Then “Next”
Double-click on your account name. The type will be POP/SMTP.





 
In this area, “Email Accounts,” make sure in the “E-mail Address” and "User Name" it has your FULL email address. Example: yourname@geeksnet.com
Also, make sure the incoming and outgoing mail servers display mail.geeksnet.com for both areas. This will be specific to your email domain. You may have something different here. If you are unsure, you may call us at 252.355.3339.



 
Click on the button located in the bottom right corner, “More Settings.”
Click on the “Outgoing Server.”
In this window, “Internet E-mail Settings,” please make sure the first box is checked. It should say, “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.



After checking this box, click “Ok.”
Then “Next.”
Then “Finish.”
